Plus Model Casting - Fashion To Figure

While I was checking my facebook messages I glanced to my right and saw the title "Shop Trendy Plus Fashion". So you know I had to click on the link. Trendy and plus in the same sentence - I will be the judge of that!

I ended up at the web site for Fashion To Figure. Fashion To Figure was founded by Nicholas and Michael Kaplan, the great-grandsons of Lena H. Bryant. You might know this brand as Lane Bryant. Apparently Fashion To Figure has been around since 2004 with stores in New Jersey and New York. Am I the only curvy diva who missed this memo?

I am a little skeptical of the garments though. The prices are very Forever21-ish and every thing is shown on a mannequin, which doesn't make me want to purchase them.  Let's assume this is why a model call needed.

If any of my curvy divas attend let me know.

Where are all the Bloomies Plus Models?

Everyone who knows me knows that I love fashion. Even more than fashion I love black models. So I get excited when I see my favorites ones - like Sessilee Lopez pictured here.

But something is so wrong when she is used in an advertisement for plus sizes.

My new love is online shopping! As I am browsing through the Bloomies site I finally find the "plus section" and I recognize this face. My first thought is, well maybe the web designer made a "boo-boo" and she and this little itty bitty jacket don't belong here. So I clicked on size and what do you know - 1x, 2x, 3x.

At this point I am totally scratching my head. The model, Sessilee Lopez, is probably a size 2-4. Where are the plus models? Could Bloomies not find any plus models? Perhaps this is in effort to save a few dollars because the same jacket is listed in sizes XS- XL. Or maybe Bloomies assumes we, the consumers, aren't that smart?

Your thoughts?!

Who is Beth Ditto?

Each day I wake up it gets cooler and cooler to be a fat girl. Who know it would only take this long.

Allow me to introduce you to Beth Ditto. I know you didn't know who she was/is because I didn't until I googled her name.

Beth Ditto, born Mary Beth Peterson, grew up in Searcy Arkansas and can sang her tutu off. She is most famous for her work with the indie rock-ish band Gossip.

And like most entertainers she too has crossed over the fashion line. Can you believe this chick who eats squirrels, doesn't wear deodorant or shave her armpits has a few almost cute pieces on sale? I can't really quite call it a "collection" because it's literally 5 items.

Take a look >>

This floral dress is uber cute! But the other items, not so much.

Check out a few other images from her site.

Fall Must Haves

As the cool breeze enters my apartment I am reminded that Fall is here!! So it's time to beef up my wardrobe with new fall trends. The tricky part is finding them in MY SIZE!

I am trying really hard not to turn this into another "angry fat gurl" blog so I will just shout out all the brands that I support and love! Not the ones that make me puke!

First I need a good jacket. It was uber cold last season and I think it's gonna be even worst this winter. Just in case we get another 36 inches this winter I want to be prepared!

This coat will put a huge dent in my savings but it's uber chic and I think it will be great for fashion week this February.

Monif C - $355.00

The Jumpsuit

I get a little jealous when a trend comes around and I cannot find it to fit over all of my curves - but looky here! A jumpsuit. Not sure if ALL my curvy divas should run out and buy this but I am!

Monif C - $198.00

THE LACE DRESS

Celebs have been rocking lace everything for the past 2 seasons so it's only right that I catch up and get me a LBD in lace!

Kiyonna - $158.00

A Big Sweater

I usually get hot all too quick but I think a big over-sized sweater can be an good replacement for a coat during trips to NY. No one wants to carry their jacket around. But a sweater ...

OneStopPlus.com $39.99-$44.99

A Leopard Print "something"

Since I am a curvy diva I refuse to wear prints above my ankle. Before I submit to any trend it has to make sense on my body and a leopard shirt or dress ain't for me. But since I am a "self- proclaimed fashionista", I must purchase something with an animal print!

Bakers - $79.95

An over the knee boot

Yes, this fiesty boot is trendy for this fall season AGAIN. What better to sexy-up your plain black leggings and over-sized sweater than with these!

Bakers - $99.95

Lace up boots / Military

I go back and forth with some fashion friends. And to heel or no heel is a constant battle for me. But I love both styles and no matter what your mood is both are uber chic.

Bakers $49.99 (heels) $79.99 (flats)

A loafer pump

Loafers are officially the new fall style for pumps. Grab them in glitter to add a little "saucy chic" too it.

Miu Miu - $695.00 (definitely need a sponsor for these)

Sequin something!

Sparkle, glitter, and shine is still in for the Holiday season. If done right even us curvy divas will turn heads at the party!

Tadashi Shoji  - $408.00 (at Bloomies)

I saw his collection at MBFW and now that I know he designs for me too, I so love him more!!

A Faux Fur

You don't want anyone throwing any red paint on you so opt for a faux fur. Nice option for a coat when traveling.

Michael Kors - $139.50 (at Bloomies)

I think I am going to order this NOW! I loves it! MK is my fav luxe brand of all.

A leather skirt

That's right! She's back - the leather skirt. You thought we left her in the 90's didn't you. Or wait was that 1980? Either way she's here and ready.

IDK if I am going to be able to rock this trend. I just wanted to keep you informed, LOL.

Jules Plus Size Miltary leather pencil skirt - $195.00 (at Bloomies)

And shout out to plus model Crystal Renn - she sure is collecting those checks, skinny or not!

A soft & silky blouse

I am not personally a fan of this trend but this model and picture is everything! It's so simple and chic.

It goes to show that a good photograph will make you want to buy something even it's not the right trend for you.

Jules plus size over-sized silk blouse - $130.00 (at Bloomies)

I could go on and on and this would be the longest trend blog post in history so I will leave you with this. Remember that being stylish and trendy is personal. It's all about how you wear it and how confident you appear. So keep your chin up when you walk and don't let your heels make that annoying "clunk" sound.

Toodles!

Monif C Dresses - The Perfect Birthday Suit

My birthday is just a little over 30 days away. I've got the perfect party venue ... the perfect cupcakes ... the perfect hair-cut ... but I am missing the 2 most important elements of my evening - perfect dress and shoes.

As I browsed through countless online shopping sites I quickly remembered one of my favs - MONIF C. Ahh yas, uber fab fitting plus size dresses.

I've got just 2 dilemmas - (1.)  I am on a tight budget (saving for a move), and (2.) I cannot decide which dress to purchase. Well the first problem I will have to find a sponsor for, but I need you guys to help me decide which dress my sponsor will be purchasing.

Take a look at the dresses below and vote for the one you think I can rock for my birthday. (what a coinky dink my hair is cut just like the model Fluvia)

OneStopPlus.com presents Belle Epoque - 1st Plus Fashion Show during NYFW

When I first got word that there would be a plus size fashion show produced during New York Fashion Week I was elated. This was the first of its kind and a huge statement which was long overdue for the Fatosphere. I immediately used my media gal powers and got a ticket.

Like all curvy divas we've been to a ton of "plus size" fashion shows and left more than disappointed - more like disgusted. Although we all were a bit worried at first, OneStopPlus.com did us proud!

EVERYTHING was ... UBER BELLA! From the hair and makeup, which fit the spring trends for NYFW - nude and natural, models - most from Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in NY, the venue - which was a perfect shade of all white, and of course the guests.

Even the show title was based around being beautiful. Belle Epoque - French for Beautiful Era, and what a perfect title for our first plus fashion show during NYFW.

Plus models Toccara, Lizzie Miller and Emme were featured in the show. Uber fab celebrity curvy divas such as Gabby Sidibe, Whitney Thompson (from ANTM), Gabi Gregg (MTV TJ), and Nikki Blonsky (actress and singer from the movie Hairspray) along with Kaycee Stroh (of High School Musical) Caroline Manzo (Real Housewives of New Jersey), and AJ Buckley Skateland (CSI: New York, Supernatural) were there to share this monumental experience with me.

Check out some of the photos from the show!

Showing not only curves but haute fashions too, the show featured long blouses, maxi dresses, and flowy dresses in the perfect shades of pinks, corals, and purples. The producers were pleased with the support of the show stating that: "62% of American women are over plus size, they want to dress with style, so this catwalk is more than right." (Amen to that!)

Check out a few of my fav looks from the show! (which seems like almost all looks, LOL)

This last look is my absolute favorite - it's so me! My only issue is that I cannot find any of these garments on the OneStopPlus.com site! What is up with that?

If you were at the show and shared this amazing experience with me, or you hated the production beyond belief, or you wish you had of gone - SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS BY COMMENTING BELOW!
