Crystal Renn goes "Under The Knife" for French Vogue

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these images.

Although we could debate all day everyday about Crystal's weight, and whether she is a plus model or not, you cannot say she's not talented and on the road to greatness.

Her recent shoot with Tom Ford for French Vogue secures her place in fashion as a future supermodel.

Take a look at a few pics from Tom Ford's 8 page spread of Crystal Renn as Jocelyn Wildenstein, the ultimate plastic surgery addict.

Tom Ford really got Crystal into character for this shoot. A cast was fit for her face so that prosthetic cheeks and lips could be added. Wow! The shoot was styled by Carine Roitfeld. Google her name and you will not be disappointed.

About her new fame and how she's enjoying it, Crystal says, “What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to express myself, often doing this by becoming a sort of character on the shoots that I do, and every time I work with Carine I feel the character approach is emphasized. When they were taking the cast of my face, fitting me for prosthetic cheeks and lips, I remember thinking this is why I do my job, for moments like this. After the shoot I took that very mask and asked Tom to sign it, it sits in my living room as we speak.” (quote from fashionista.com)

In case you are unfamiliar with Jocelyn Wildenstein she is/was an American socialite who has had a horrible experience with plastic surgery. Take a look at her journey in this video below. (beware its kinda creepy):

Damn You Alexis

Apparently everyone but the US realizes the worth of the fatshionista.

While browsing one of my fav curvy sites I discovered an amazing brand, Damn You Alexis. A brand full of LBD's, leggings, tops, skirts, and rompers. I am officially lusting over that damn Alexis.

From bondage dresses, to halter dresses, to statement shoulder dresses, this is fatshion heaven.

The collection ranges from sizes AUS16-24. The designer, Megan Moir Pardy, is a size 22 fatshionista who decided to launch her own line - "because I can't find the clothes I want to wear in my size".

Check out some of my favorites looks and be sure to visit her site.

I love the statement shoulder dress (the sexy model is haute too). What's your favorite?

I've Got Jungle Fever

The Animal Print Craze

I've been trying to fight off this trend for months now but I must say I have to give in. All the celebs are rocking it and when I saw a fly grandma wearing a cashmere leopard print cardigan with her skinnys paired with Steve Madden pumps - I had to submit.

Animal prints can go completely wrong on some of us though. So don't get all "matchy matchy" on me and wear it from head to Louboutin. Just a hint of this popping trend will create a purr-fect look!

The UnHype of Google's Boutiques.com

Today Google launched Boutiques.com, a personalized online fashion shop. The site allows users to search and discover fab pieces tailored to fit your personal preferences.

So imagine my joy when I realized I could create my own boutique! I couldn't wait to get home and try it.

But just like a normal shopping day I was left disappointed and no bags to tote home. The site does offer tons of styles in clothing, shoes, and accessories - mainly for the slim body with a thick wallet. Unfortunately for me its the other way around. I spent an hour fishing through my boutique looking for that uber fab piece or at least that fab find. Nothing impressive and nothing I couldn't have found on my own.

I suppose it is good that all of your favorite brands (and some new ones) are all on one site. But once you select your item of choice you are redirected to the actual site where the item can be purchased. Google does have plans to expand by offering menswear. I pray they realize that a large percentage of consumers are over size 12 and are not paying $2,000 for a dress.

I am still very optimistic because I love the concept. What an amazing way to house all of my online shopping? Dontcha think!

Create your own boutique (after you follow mine) and let me know if you love or hate it.

Plus Model Casting - Fashion To Figure

While I was checking my facebook messages I glanced to my right and saw the title "Shop Trendy Plus Fashion". So you know I had to click on the link. Trendy and plus in the same sentence - I will be the judge of that!

I ended up at the web site for Fashion To Figure. Fashion To Figure was founded by Nicholas and Michael Kaplan, the great-grandsons of Lena H. Bryant. You might know this brand as Lane Bryant. Apparently Fashion To Figure has been around since 2004 with stores in New Jersey and New York. Am I the only curvy diva who missed this memo?

I am a little skeptical of the garments though. The prices are very Forever21-ish and every thing is shown on a mannequin, which doesn't make me want to purchase them.  Let's assume this is why a model call needed.

If any of my curvy divas attend let me know.

Model Behavior - my birthday shoot

In case I didn't tweet or facebook it enough - my birthday is in a few days (Nov 4th). It's clearly my favorite holiday, besides Christmas and Thanksgiving.

This year I decided to take a few photos for my party flyer and I think I have that model itch again.

Long before I decided to try my hand in graphics, photography, and now writing, I modeled. I gave it all up for the love of planning and being behind the scenes. But I think I'll do a few more shoots just for fun.

What do you think? How did I do?

Shout out to my awesome photographer, Mikael Aaron. Check out his website!

Style369.com - New Plus Size Retailer

The fat girls answer to TopShop? That's what the blogosphere is calling Style369.com. Offering UK sizes from 14-26 (US 10-22) and wide shoes, the online retail destination includes pieces from Evans' collection as well as other brands, including Curvy Kate Lingerie, Rock & Revival, Kangol, Katherine Hamnett, Zandra Rhodes Handbags and Ruby Rocks.

The prices are pretty affordable and are comparable to Asos. Considering that some plus retailers are charging almost $200 for some key pieces, like jumpsuits and faux fur, it's refreshing.

I love their cover model. She is giving it to you! Do you think retailers have heard our screams for more trendy less tacky looks?

Where are all the Bloomies Plus Models?

Everyone who knows me knows that I love fashion. Even more than fashion I love black models. So I get excited when I see my favorites ones - like Sessilee Lopez pictured here.

But something is so wrong when she is used in an advertisement for plus sizes.

My new love is online shopping! As I am browsing through the Bloomies site I finally find the "plus section" and I recognize this face. My first thought is, well maybe the web designer made a "boo-boo" and she and this little itty bitty jacket don't belong here. So I clicked on size and what do you know - 1x, 2x, 3x.

At this point I am totally scratching my head. The model, Sessilee Lopez, is probably a size 2-4. Where are the plus models? Could Bloomies not find any plus models? Perhaps this is in effort to save a few dollars because the same jacket is listed in sizes XS- XL. Or maybe Bloomies assumes we, the consumers, aren't that smart?

Your thoughts?!

FASHION FAILURE: Beth Ditto in Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2011

Nobody loves the mean fat girl, but why does the fat girl always have to look like Homey the Clown?

Everytime I think the fatosphere is beginning to shape up (no pun intended) some fat girl goes and messes it up. First Crystal Renn with those dreadful photos, now Beth Ditto.

First let me say I applaud any woman, man, child, or alien for being able to get up in front of 100's of people and be judged. But let me end that thought by saying that perhaps your friends are afraid to tell you the obvious - you look crazy! I mean so did the rest of the skinny models but times all of the foolery by 200+ pounds and you have sheer rachetness!

For the finale Ditto bursts out into a Tina Turner song and leads the models, sporting Joan Jett wigs and Doc Martens, down the runway. They all cheered but I can't help but wonder how many folks left out and asked themselves "What the ----- did she have on?"

Or do we all chalk that silly foolery up in the name of good 'ole fashion and entertainment?

WATCH: a video from the show Part 2 shows her finale around 2:00. (can you spot Crystal Renn also)

Who is Beth Ditto?

Each day I wake up it gets cooler and cooler to be a fat girl. Who know it would only take this long.

Allow me to introduce you to Beth Ditto. I know you didn't know who she was/is because I didn't until I googled her name.

Beth Ditto, born Mary Beth Peterson, grew up in Searcy Arkansas and can sang her tutu off. She is most famous for her work with the indie rock-ish band Gossip.

And like most entertainers she too has crossed over the fashion line. Can you believe this chick who eats squirrels, doesn't wear deodorant or shave her armpits has a few almost cute pieces on sale? I can't really quite call it a "collection" because it's literally 5 items.

Take a look >>

This floral dress is uber cute! But the other items, not so much.

Check out a few other images from her site.
