Plus-size Only Runway Show during NYFW

I really thought I knew every possible website for plus clothing until I received an email just a few minutes ago. The email was a press release for the first ever plus-size only runway show during New York Fashion Week.

OneStopPlus.com is the a premiere online destination for curvy women that will be producing the show on September 15th at The Atrium in Frederick P. Rose Hall, at the Lincoln Center. The show will feature prominent models Lizzie Miller, and Tocarra Jones. Plus-size icon Emme, who is the brand ambassador for OneStopPlus.com, will be hosting the red carpet.

"The recent confluence of events and energy within the plus-size movement makes this the perfect time for OneStopPlus.com to debut at New York Fashion Week," says Stephanie Sobel, President of OneStopPlus.com. "Top plus-size models like Crystal Renn and Lizzie Miller in Italian Vogue, French Elle, Glamour, Marie Claire, and others, validate that this is the magic moment for plus sizes."

Of course you know I plan to attend the event which is affectionately titled Belle Epoque, the Golden Age. For better or for worse we've made a huge step in exposing what's really in our Fatosphere.

Are You The Next Essence 'It' Girl?

 

Are you the next It Girl? Think you have what it takes to be a model? Well, ESSENCE has launched its "It Girl" model search in partnership with Elite Model Management and we're conducting a nationwide search looking for the next African-American "It" model.

The winner--to be announced in May--will be featured in the September 2010 Fall Fashion issue of ESSENCE magazine and will receive a one-year contract with Elite Model Management!

Live castings will be conducted in Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York and photos will be accepted online here. An expert panel of judges comprised of ESSENCE editors, Elite managers and fashion industry VIPs will attend each of the open castings to evaluate the entrants and 5 finalists will be flown to New York for a special modeling boot camp, which will be documented for the "Making of an It Girl" web series on ESSENCE.com. The ESSENCE.com audience will cast their votes to help select the grand prize winner from the 5 finalists.
