My MBFW Photo Diary

9/23/2010 1:46am -

If you're up like me you know its too darn late to be doing anything productive. So this will be my last MBFW post.

I had such a great time this season. I met hella folks - famous, not so much, and a few in between. I did a bunch of unnecessary tweeting and drank a lot of Startbucks.

I saw Robert Verdi outside of the L.A.M.B show. Well really I saw him all week.

I snagged Fern up over at the cafe. I wonder why no one harasses her for a picture?

Kelly Rowland at the Georges Chakra show.

My girl, Tiffany and I after the Concept Korea show. I need to take more plus 1's next season. Its always nice to have someone to "cut up" with.

The Concept Korea was another favorite of mine. The lighting show in the beginning was amazing.

And they get the HEYBELLA award for those uber fab shoes! YAS hunty!

Miki Taylor from Essence at the PORTS1961 show.

Assunta is one of our writers over at Iconography The Magazine - I had just met her that day and within 5 minutes we're geeking like childhood cuzzos! Love you hear!

Some model type guy. I thought he was cute. I wanted a snap of just him but he said I was too beautiful not to be in the pic too. Oh you boys have such game these days.

Me and shawty from Will and Grace. No really he is short!

S/O to my Charlotte Chicas! They were drunk as a skunk from the free wine.

Miss Jay Alexander himself

The FNO bus that Giselle, Naomi, and the others walked off of during the show that Tuesday night.

We could see the 9/11 tribute from out Brooklyn homeaway.com apartment.

Kimora tweeted me back and asked why I didn't speak to her. So off I went and clearly everyone say my tweet and ambushed her!

Grabbing sushi - soy sauce make me goofy!

There was a show outside on the sidewalk - but they only walked across the street?

I even got a chance to sneak backstage at my BFF's show. I see you @bethanytownes

Sam Fine at the Jones Awards! He's such a humbled diva.

My new fav travel bag from My Black Is Beautiful

I really wanted to take a picture with him but he was giving someone directions to the Tommy Hilfiger after party.

Toccara strutting it at the OnePlusStop.com show. She was a little extra though but I still love you boo!

Whitney Thompson from ANTM - with an UBER fab dress on!

Gabi Gregg, the newest addition to MTV - @MTVVJ

My backstage pass for the Odd Molly. (damn Gel nails effed my nails all up - see in the spring with some fresh Dashing Diva colors)

Backstage @ Odd Molly with Dashing Diva Nails

Everyone in NYC has a gimmick! That's how you get noticed out of those 10million folks walking around. Even the homeless got talent.

The AOL media lounge was my second home!

Dammit, he's still talking!

My second plus 1 at the L.A.M.B. show. Next year she's gonna be my sidekick because @calicuite is a pure solid gold champion! Love you hear.

After a long hot week it felt good to sit down! See you next season.

NYFW - Nautica Spring 2011 Collection

Not too much needs to be said about the new Nautica collection for spring 2011. The brand is definitely trying to make a classic comeback with fitted suits and gorgeous man to match.

I need to know where they casted these male models from because "good lawrd have mercy on me."

*drops mic exit stage left*

Even the DJ was gorgeous!

MBFW - Edition by Georges Chakra Spring 2011

Showing his collection for the fourth time at MBFW, Edition by George Chakra is usually my favorite show to attend. This year was no different.

This was my first show inside The Stage at the Lincoln Center and I was so glad I had seats because it's a tight one. At first glance you noticed there are NO chairs - it's bleacher style. Which can be cute but not so much for a girl with "baby making" hips. Once I got situated and moved a little closer I eagerly awaited the start of the show.

Although I must admit it did take a few moments for all the elements of his show to "click" for me.

Weaving, golds, bright disco blues, crisp whites, and majestic purples - his spring collection screamed elegant and uber chic. The background decor on the model entrance had a woven design, each piece was woven across the chest and/or waist, and the hair was in a neat yet sloppy fishtail braid - cute cute cute! I tweeted a big "eww" for this hair at first but it SO fit and I recant my tweet!

What a way to bring back an old hair trend! As each model got closer you could see the details - straps that criss-crossed more like a woven basket. How clever is all I could say.

Check out some of my fav pieces.

Once the show was over I rushed to the front just get snap these pics!

Look who was front row - Kelly Rowland! She even stopped to take pics with a few kids (although I asked myself several times - who brings kids to Fashion Week?)

Loving that hair - I wish my head was a little smaller, LOL

MBFW: Catherine Malandrino Spring 2011 Collection

Catherine Malandrino has mastered the art of fusing styles. Her Spring 2011 collection combines bohemian chic and urban fab. So imagine how elated I was to hear that ICONOGRAPHY the magazine received an invite to the presentation. I was a little sad because presentations generally aren't as fun and exciting but Catherine did not disappoint.

As I walked up the escalators from the train I immediately entered the Avery Fisher Hall adjacent to the tents at the Lincoln Center. On my second step into the building the Bon Appétit greeter abruptly says “Catherine Malandrino is outside!” She must have known I wasn't spending $15 on 1/2 of a sandwich and a cup of soup. Outside!, I yelled to myself. But it’s raining and damp outside, my bella tresses are barely holding on in this weather. I shrugged my shoulders and trotted outside in my new fav heels from Torrid.com. I notice that the rain was now at a light trickle and in came a light breeze that hovered over each model standing on “pedestals” around the water. WOWSERS! How cute, huh?!

Once I got past the PR girls screaming at one another I quickly spotted another fav of mine – model Sessilee Lopez. Dressed in nearly all black with her hands in her pockets. She gave the photographers (including me) a slight smile. I tried to snap a candid of her boyfriend, Wesley, who was sitting across the grass – claim to fame “Model City” on Centric TV. He was a bit thrown off by huge Sony digital camera, that fits in the palm of hand, because he threw up his “No more pictures a$$hole” hand. He must have thought I worked for TMZ. (whatever dude)

As I walked around the models I became more intrigued by each piece. I examined each model (like Christina Yang does each of her patients) blurting out to my partner “get the accessories!” There were boots, and bags, and huge statement necklaces, detailed denim jackets, and just layers of clothes. Each piece was universally made for every fashionista with style.

The best part about her presentation was that there were hundreds of industry professionals there for your convenience for over an hour. In my travels around I met June Ambrose (who is such a humble diva), Keisha Whitaker, and Phillip Bloch. Check out the interviews on youtube.

Keep scrolling to take a peak at some of my fav looks of the collection.

Look at how the dresses just flow through the breeze!

Don't sleep on these accessories, it's easy to get caught up in the garment!

My favorite piece of them all. I love how the jumpsuit in "jumping" back in style.

Denim Jackets to die for!

Do you see the details? *I just died*

Those sandals! I need to be on vacation with them NOW.

My favorite fashion week chic - Sessilee Lopez

The designer even answered ONE question for me! Check out ICONOGRAPHY the magazine's NYFW special edition this Friday to see what she had to say!

There were soooo many folks there, if you attended and we didn't meet let's get together in February during MBFW and have a drink on them. Ciao Bella.
