I am absolutely in love with this concept - building the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves.
This is what Black Girls Rock! is about. Founded by DJ Beverly Bond, BGR! has been empowering women of color since 2006.
Last night the who's who of black hollywood came out for the 5th Annual Black Girls Rock! Awards. This years honorees included Rudy Dee, Keke Palmer, and Raven Symone.
The event was hosted by the super gorge Nia Long with performances from Jill Scott, Keri Hilson, Fantasia, Keyshia Cole, and Monica. The event was filled with tons of entertainers and a slew of notable African Americans.
In case you're like me and didn't get an invite to this fab event you can catch the BET special on November 7. Huge congrats to Beverly Bond on creating such an uplifting event.
